Those Damn Barbie Dolls
6:28 AM
Barbie dolls are one of the things little girls would dream of having. It's like the essence of a real girl as a kid. Or maybe that's what I thought as a kid. Basta alam ko lang, sikat talaga ang Barbie since dati pa. Ay basta.
I used to remember the times when I played Barbie dolls with my ate. We would braid our Barbie dolls' hair [that's when I learned how to do braids], dress them up with clothes sewn by ourselves, steal my kuya's Marvel action figures so that they can be Barbie's boyfriends. I remember forcing our parents to buy this and that for our Barbie collection. And it's really silly to know how fond we were of playing Barbie as a kid.
I remember one certain time where the song Barbie Girl, popularized by the group AQUA kept on playing on the radio during our Senior Preparatory Days. Every morning, little kids would line up in front and dance to that damn song. It's embarrassing to admit that I'm one of them. But hey, that was so yesterday and there's nothing I can do but to laugh about it.
I remember Sir Montojo and Maam Tere mentioning about songs with sexual undertones. There are lots of songs to analyze about but one perfect example is the song Barbie Girl which haunts my childhood memories.
Hmm. Let's see. This is how it goes...
Ken: Hi Barbie!
Barbie: Hi Ken!
Ken: You wanna go for a ride?
Barbie: Sure, Ken!
Ken: Jump in!
Barbie and Ken: HAHAHA
I'm a Barbie girl in the Barbie world
Life in plastic, it's fantastic
You can brush my hair, undress me everywhere [okaaay. so that's how things are with Barbie?]
Imagination, life is your creation
Come on, Barbie, let's go party [haay. mga muher lakwatsera]
I'm a blonde single girl in the fantasy world
Dress me up, take your time, I'm your dollie [so like, a sex slave?]
You're my doll, rock and roll, feel the glamour and pain
Kiss me here, touch me there, hanky-panky [wow. so ganun na lang mga babae? magpapahawak na lang kahit saan?]
From Wikipedia: The expression 'hanky-panky' may often connote sexual behavior
You can touch, you can play [ang laswa naman]
You can say I'm always yours, oooh whoa [say what?]
Come on, Barbie, let's go party, ha ha ha, yeah
Come on, Barbie, let's go party, oooh, oooh
Come on, Barbie, let's go party, ha ha ha, yeah
Come on, Barbie, let's go party, oooh, oooh
[pag pakinggan nyo yung song, may double meaning yung hahaha yeah and oooh oooh. parang moans]
Make me walk, make me talk, do whatever you please [like what? mag jer jer sayo?]
I can act like a star, I can beg on my knees [huwaw. ganun?]
Come jump in, be my friend, let us do it again [do WHAT again?]
Hit the town, fool around, let's go party
And the finale...
Barbie: Oh, I'm having so much fun!
Ken: Well, Barbie, we're just getting started!
Barbie: Oh, I love you Ken!

NOTE: Di ko na sinali yung mga inulit na parts.
Ang landi mo Barbie. Ang lalaswa nyo ni Ken.
And to think that I used to dance to this song? Eeeew. So ganun na pala mga babae? Submissive, todo-bigay, BIGAAN? Yaaak.
Mag isip daw kayo. Huy.
